Page 5 of 5 JOB DESCRIPTION Post Title: Fleet Mechanic Heavy and Light Goods Vehicles Service / Section: Environment, Roads and Facilities / Fleet Services Version Date: June 2024 Grade: G06 Location: Fleet Workshop, Blackmarsh Road, Mochdre Job Evaluation Number: SL1905 Responsible to: Fleet Manager Responsible For: (Staff) Modern apprentices as required Job Purpose: Maintain and repair Fleet vehicles in compliance with Department and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) guide to maintaining roadworthiness within the parameters set by the authorities Operators Licence (O Licence). To attend breakdowns and repairs 24 hrs a day on shifts and call out anywhere within the Conwy County boundaries. Shifts 7-15.00 and 11.00 – 19.00 alternating weeks Work within and maintain quality systems and diagnostic equipment in line with both legislation and changes in customer need. Duties and Responsibilities - Job Specific 1. The maintenance, servicing, repair of the county’s fleet vehicles/plant and equipment throughout the County Borough Council in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, Health and Safety requirements and Ministry of Transport Regulations. 2. Testing and inspection to prepare vehicles for MOT testing 3. Ensure that the Workshops, surrounding areas and all its facilities are maintained in a clean safe condition, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Legislation, best practice standards and Industry Regulations. 4. Ensure that all vehicles, plant and operational equipment are maintained in a timely manner to ensure operational demands are met by all departments in CCBC. 5. Monitor and report upon vehicle and ancillary equipment performance and liaise with fleet management with regard to any action to be taken with parties concerned. 6. Carry out periodic maintenance and assess any accident damage to vehicles/plant/equipment, advising on method of repair where appropriate. 7. Undertake parts ordering, fitting and testing to ensure vehicles are roadworthy. 8. Test, assess and repair Electrical Vehicles safely within industry standards or working towards. 9. Maintain all documentation requirements and electronic systems to ensure operational best practice and drive service improvements. 10. Liaise with Fleet Management in order to optimise the efficiency of the fleet/plant and equipment. 11. Maintain local security protocols on all operational sites both during the working day and as part of the out of hour’s service. 12. Provide technical information, undertake diagnostic investigation and provide in-house management with recommendations 13. Take part in a Fleet out of hours service and undertake roadside recovery of vehicles 14. Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be requested Duties and Responsibilities – Corporate 1.
