Charlton Wood Primary Academy are looking to appoint a Level 2 Reading Intervention Assistant to work across the school in Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, delivering reading interventions.
The role will include a mixture of small group intervention and 1:1 work. The successful applicant will include the delivery of specific interventions, working under the direction of the Early Reading and Phonics Leader.
Your daily tasks could involve:
• Working in small groups or 1-1 with children to support reading or phonics.
• Liaising and feeding back to the class teacher about the successes and areas for development.
• Facilitating social communication and interaction with peers both in the playground and dinner hall.
• Supporting children to manage their behaviour in a positive manner.
• Taking an active interest in the needs and welfare of the children.
• Talking clearly and concisely to ensure instructions are understood and followed.
• Working alongside teaching staff, parents and a range of professionals to implement and review programmes of intervention.
• Being on the first aid rota (training provided for this)

• Relevant professional qualification/s would be an advantage
• An understanding of early reading, phonics and the reading curriculum
