We have an opportunity for an aspiring professional to join our Private Client Tax team in our Ipswich office as an Assistant Manager. This full-time role can be combined with an element of home-working under the firm’s agile working policy. Further information on our Private Client Tax team can be seen here. About the role This is an interesting and varied role which provides scope for personal and career development. We are seeking a ‘team player’, who is also confident and capable of working independently. You will have the opportunity to deal with a wide range of compliance matters including the preparation of tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts and estates. You may also be responsible for the completion of Capital Gains Tax returns, Inheritance Tax accounts and Trust Registration filing requirements. The role may also include the handling of HM Revenue & Customs enquiries and assisting with a variety of tax advisory projects. This is a role that will enable you to put your technical expertise into practice to provide excellent service to your client portfolio, alongside completing and (depending on experience) reviewing Self Assessment tax returns completed by others and assisting with the development of more junior team members. Location Our Ipswich office is a modern and comfortable working environment with excellent facilities and roof terrace area and is situated close to Ipswich station and the town centre, with convenient parking available at Portman Road. Skills required A minimum of 2 years recent practice experience within a personal tax role, or a mixed role including a significant personal tax element. You should ideally be ATT qualified (or above). Study support towards further qualifications, e.g. CTA will be considered, if applicable. Excellent organisation skills and experience in managing deadlines and client expectations. Experience of managing a portfolio of clients. Experience in controlling budgets and billing would be preferable but is not essential. A high level of ICT literacy with sound working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and accounting/tax software packages. Knowledge of CCH software would be beneficial. Good oral and written communication skills to facilitate effective client contact and present findings in an accessible manner. A conscientious attitude and a good eye for detail.
