Recruitment Profile
You will contribute to all aspects of childcare and education in the ELC setting and take an active part in other appropriate duties as required.
Principal Duties
1. Contribute through team meetings to the long, medium, and short-term planning processes of all aspects of the curriculum in line with local and national guidelines to meet the needs of the individual child in an inclusive setting.
2. As part of the ELC team, implement plans to deliver an effective early years' service to individual children and groups of children by:
1. Setting up high-quality spaces and resources – indoor and outdoor.
2. Planning high-quality experiences for children – indoor and outdoor.
3. Cleaning and maintaining resources where appropriate.
4. Providing general ongoing supervision to ensure a safe, healthy, and secure environment for children.
5. Encouraging children in the development of good personal hygiene, helping individuals as necessary.
6. Providing nurturing interactions which support and extend learning.
3. Observe, record observations, and contribute to assessment and moderation through team meetings, as well as formal reporting on individual children’s progress in line with SBC’s policy and procedures.
4. Liaise with parents, members of multi-disciplinary teams, and other establishments and agencies, individually or in conjunction with the EYO/SEYO.
5. Provide day-to-day support and guidance to assist in developing college students on placement, trainees, and newly appointed practitioners, and provide input to reports on progress through discussion with the Early Years Officer/Senior Early Years Officer.
6. Keep up to date with early level curriculum initiatives and national guidance, participating in appropriate training and development in line with SBC policy and procedures.
7. Be prepared to undertake other duties as may be required by the Service Director to meet the needs and responsibility of the Service and the Council.
Minimum Qualifications
1. At least one of the following qualifications:
1. HNC in Childhood Practice/Childcare & Education.
2. SNNEB/NNEB with evidence of a record of ongoing CPD during the past 5 years may be considered.
All successful applicants for early learning and childcare posts will be required to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of appointment and maintain registration throughout the period of employment.
