Job Purpose
We’re looking for a Regional Engineering Manager to lead a group of Engineering Surveyors across a designated geographical area. This is your opportunity to take on a pivotal role, ensuring the seamless delivery of services in line with our service level agreements while driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage and lead a team of surveyors, ensuring day-to-day work is carried out to the highest standards.
2. Develop and implement the regional operating plan to exceed KPIs and SLAs for operations.
3. Communicate regular updates on regulations ensuring adherence.
4. Manage staff, oversee work schedules, and assign duties for compliance with Health & Safety legislation, environmental, and Quality policies.
5. Maintain detailed knowledge of legislative, contractual, and operational requirements for in-service examination.
6. Provide site and management support to field staff as necessary.
7. Conduct staff reviews including appraisals, competence assessments, and performance management.
8. Ensure inspections are carried out diligently and in accordance with the QA System.
9. Lead and manage customer complaints within your geographical area.
10. Address Engineer Surveyor discipline or performance issues promptly.
11. Manage Engineer Surveyor sickness or absence issues, ensuring examinations are reorganized.
12. Resolve operational problems and liaise with clients and the Operations Manager as necessary.
13. Ensure client’s statutory requirements are met.
14. Examine all plant within the region according to accepted codes of practice.
15. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of technical developments and Engineering Standards.
16. Employ the Company QA Systems across all service areas.
17. Monitor resource levels within geographic areas, ensuring adequate cover for all examination types.
18. Ensure proper allocation sizes for Engineer Surveyors.
19. Verify vehicle mileages and travel times in line with Company policies.
20. Adhere to Health and Safety policies.
21. Participate in the recruitment process for additional resources as necessary.
22. Maintain effective working relationships across internal stakeholder groups.
23. Lead on projects as required by the Operations Manager.
24. Undertake additional duties as delegated by the Operations Manager.
Key Skills and Experience
1. Minimum of a level 4/5 Management Leadership Qualification or equivalent experience in an Engineering discipline.
2. Strong customer communication skills and confidence in making professional judgments.
3. Experience in stakeholder management and engagement.
4. Good commercial and financial acumen.
5. Ability to understand, manage, and deliver KPIs.
6. Self-organization skills.
7. Proficient in MS Office and Apple products.
8. Clear understanding of industry protocol.
9. Proven track record of managing regional teams successfully.
10. Knowledge of statutory regulations – LOLER, PUWER, PSSR, COSHH (Desirable).
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
1. GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
