An opportunity for an experienced Finance Assistant to join our friendly accounts team.
Who are Owen Taylor & Sons Ltd?
Owen Taylor is an award-winning catering butcher in Leabrooks, near Alfreton, Derbyshire who has been established for 100 years. We supply meat across the East Midlands and beyond to hotels, restaurants, pubs, hospitals, universities, and food service.
What will you do?
You will assist in the Companies finance department in all aspects.
Key responsibilities:
* Maintain the Purchase Ledger including invoice/delivery notes correlation, data input, and raising payments.
* Conduct weekly payment runs.
* Assist in the preparation of the management accounts.
* Provide cover for the sales ledger including cash allocation.
* Manage cashing up.
* Handle company credit cards and expenses.
* Complete VAT returns.
* Perform bank reconciliation.
* Chase customers for overdue payments, send copy invoices, and send statements.
* Address queries on unpaid invoices.
* Send reminders for overdue invoices/debt by telephone, email, and letter within agreed timescales.
* Maintain accurate records of all chasing activity.
* Respond promptly and completely to both customer and internal enquiries.
* Liaise with customers and finance managers regarding problem accounts and arrange payment plans with customers where necessary.
* Perform other administrative duties within the scope of the role.
* Liaise with suppliers, customers, other departments within the Company, and department heads.
* Manage cash allocation and account maintenance in the Sales Ledger.
* Assist with legal proceedings for debt collection.

Key skills & attributes:
* Knowledge of Sage 200.
* Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
* Intermediate understanding of Excel.
* Essential knowledge of Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger.
Salary: £15,500.00 to £15,900.00 per year dependent on experience.
Job Types: Part-time, 3 days per week between Monday to Friday 09.00am to 17.00pm. Flexibility will be required for absence cover.
Experience: Previous experience in the finance department is essential, but training on the systems will be provided.
