The Western Bay Regional Adoption Service has invested in and re-developed its’ services and has an exciting and challenging agenda to deliver. Since the creation of the Service in 2015, together with our partner agencies Bridgend and Swansea, we have been continuously improving our services, and moving in the right direction by achieving an increase in the number of adoptive placements as well as reducing the time taken to place children.
The Service consists of three distinct operational functions; Recruitment and Assessment, Twin Tracking & Family Finding and Adoption Support, and are supported by a dedicated Business Support function.
An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join the Recruitment and Assessment function, a team of committed and enthusiastic professionals who are hardworking and supportive. This function is responsible for the marketing, recruitment and assessment of adopters using the two-stage assessment process, and for the completion of Non-Agency adoption assessments. You will need to have at least significant relevant post-qualifying experience with significant experience of working in children and young people’s services, experience/ knowledge and understanding of adoption work and processes; supporting families to care for children and experience of working directly with families using therapeutic and direct work models. Applicants need to have a desire and interest in assisting to drive forward the national adoption agenda in relation to performance and developments.
You will ideally have some experience in working with adoption or have suitable transferrable skills and be willing to train to undertake the full range of adoption responsibilities.
There will be a degree of flexibility required as there will be occasions due to service needs where you will be required to work within all functions across the service, providing valuable opportunities to broaden and develop your skills in adoption.
You must be registered with Social Care Wales, hold a recognised professional Social Work qualification and have a willingness to work towards continuous professional development.
