We are looking for someone with the following experience / knowledge (we are not expecting applicants to have experience in all areas):
* Delivering strategic outcomes within the private, public, or voluntary sector.
* ED&I experience at both operational and strategic levels.
* Utilising an inclusive and independent mindset to check and challenge ED&I strategic success.
* Lived experience across one or more under-represented communities, with an ability to represent those communities, and others, to inform decision making and strategic direction.
* Experience in non-executive roles.
* An understanding about the impact sport has on young people & society.
* Passionate about making a difference to local young people and a local business.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the EDI staff development group.
* Support the EDI group to write an ED&I policy and development plan.
* Provide ideas on how to raise the profile and importance of ED&I within Spark Active.
* Help engage with underrepresented groups.
* Experience of working on a board, committee, or governing body along with the ability to forge strong partnerships/relationships would be beneficial.
* All applicants must be willing and able to travel to Boldmere (Sutton Coldfield) for board meetings.
We are looking for the following commitment from newly appointed Directors:
* Meet a minimum of 3 times a year for board meetings (once a term).
* Board Meetings generally take place 5-7pm on a weekday in Boldmere, Sutton Coldfield.
* Ability to offer additional support to the Chief Executive Officer (networking, business development, marketing, growth, and VIP events).
* Attend additional subgroup meetings if required (staff engagement, inclusion & diversity, wellbeing). The EDI Director will be expected to lead the EDI subgroup.
* This is a voluntary position, but reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
* Agree to an enhanced DBS check if appropriate.
