As Management Accountant, the role will work alongside two other accountants at a similar level, who manage projects and the transactional aspects of the business (purchase ledger). Collaboration with these team members is essential, including overlapping duties, interaction, and deputising to manage and share workload pressures.
This position is ideal for an individual motivated to advance their career, offering the opportunity to shape and develop the role within a newly restructured finance team in a dynamic and evolving construction business.
Key responsibilities:

2. Prepare and report on contract and business cash flows, including weekly cash flow forecasts. This role is expected to ultimately handle cash reporting for all three of the Group's operating business.
3. Review and understand individual contract appraisals (CVRs) to prepare the Annual Budget and Quarterly Forecasts for submission to the Group and senior management team.
4. Prepare year-end financial information, including financial accounts and audit files, and subsequently liaise with and provide information to external auditors.
5. Collaborate directly with the Financial Controller to ensure financial/management information is accurate, completed within agreed timescales, and aligns with company procedures and reporting timelines, supporting the business and senior management team in decision-making.
6. Identify and implement business process improvements and utilise existing and new IT systems to ensure compliance with all internal and external reporting requirements and deadlines, driving efficiency within the finance function.
7. Manage other reporting requirements, including HMRC obligations such as VAT, corporation tax, PAYE, and CIS, as well as other reporting needs like CITB and ONS.
Your profile:
8. Qualified (CA, ACCA, CIMA) or Part-Qualified Accountant with relevant industry experience.
9. Experience in management accounts, including cash management, monthly reporting, budgeting, and year-end reporting.
10. Strong commercial awareness and the ability to understand underlying projects, commercial drivers, and business-produced information.
11. Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to assess, report, and explain business performance.
12. Outstanding communication skills, crucial for close interaction with the Commercial team (surveying) to ensure accurate and robust contract reporting, and for clear communication with other functions, including Construction, Operations, and Buying.
13. Proven ability to work under tight deadlines, build effective working relationships, influence others, and maintain attention to detail.
14. Organised, conscientious, and reliable, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a proven ability to organise and prioritise workload.
15. Proficient in using IT systems, including accounting ledger programs and software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Advanced Excel skills are essential.
Salary will sit within a range of £50,000 - £60,000 per annum plus benefits (details available upon request).
