SEN Teaching Assistant
Crewe
Full-Time
£425 - £475 Weekly Pay (PAYE - No Umbrella Company)
New Directions is seeking a dedicated and motivated learning support assistant for a Secondary School located in Crewe.
This long-term role, starting immediately, requires a compassionate and skilled individual to support children with Autism (ASD) and Complex Learning Difficulties (CLD). The successful candidate will work closely with students to create a positive, nurturing environment, helping them navigate their unique challenges and reach their full potential. This is an excellent opportunity for someone committed to making a meaningful impact in the field of special education.
Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
1. Have excellent communication skills.
2. Be able to build strong relationships with students and staff.
3. Be encouraging and supportive.
4. Have a positive attitude towards teaching and aiding children's development.
5. Ensure the safety and well-being of the student.
Although the role is based around education support, due to the children's personal needs and behaviours, they require consistent mentoring, motivating, and advising, as well as some counselling, so their well-being can remain stable, allowing them to achieve much more in their education and work towards a more independent future.
Behaviours displayed by the children can be challenging, so applicants must be prepared to practice De-escalation and calming techniques, as well as maintaining an empathetic approach and understanding that behaviours stem from other problems. Candidates from care, sports, psychology, criminology, sociology, and youth work backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
