Your new role: Joining our highly regarded internal team of Investment Lawyers in London, you will work alongside experienced debt and corporate professionals working across Real Assets and Private Credit deals We are looking for someone to work closely with the private credit investment team to provide strategic, structuring and commercial transaction support and advice across a range of credit investment opportunities- the role will be a good fit for someone with experience in real estate finance and infrastructure lending, and familiarity with structured credit. This could include those either at Associate and/or Senior Associate levels. What makes this role unique is that you are an integral part of supporting our investments team and ensuring that the assets we are investing in deliver great returns for our members. You are at the heart of the transaction alongside the commercial team, where your voice is valued and highly respected. Some of your key responsibilities in this role will be: Autonomously manage the legal and related due diligence required in respect of assets in which the Fund is planning to invest, with a particular focus on the Fund’s investments for private credit; infrastructure debt and property debt. Lead the identification, escalation, allocation, and mitigation of legal risks associated with the Fund’s investment activities as part of the legal work stream. Advise on transaction structure, deal documentation, diligence, regulatory/licensing and reputational issues Manage and provide advice on legal documentation and commercial terms relating to both the Fund’s direct investment activity, its contractual arrangements with its commercial partners as well as broader Investment Department activity. Take ownership for the development and implementation of appropriate control processes, precedents, and checklists for the ongoing review of investments in listed and unlisted assets. Input into the broader transaction management for the Fund’s direct acquisitions across the asset class teams and portfolio operations. This role is based on-site at London King’s Cross Estate, one of the core assets of the Fund’s global portfolio, with a hybrid work schedule What You’ll need: Culture is key at AustralianSuper, and we are looking for someone who is a team player that enjoys working in a high performing collaborative team. Significant experience within private practice at a large law firm or an in-house legal function working in private credit/debt. Excellent track record reviewing and negotiating documents, including finance documents, legal opinions, confidentiality agreements, release and reliance letters, engagement letter, etc. Extensive experience managing projects with several parties and service providers. Detailed comprehension of legal due diligence principles in relation to private market investments and regulatory clearances Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment operating with competing deadlines and priorities Bar Qualified.
