The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with their ward managers, they will support their ward managers with a comprehensive range of day to day admin tasks such as staff recruitment both clinical and administrative, assisting with ward projects, arranging and attending meetings, taking of minutes, organising staff training (both clinical and administration staff) This support allows the ward manger time to focus on their clinical duties, clinical team and patient flow through their wards. The successful candidate will also line manage a team of ward clerks, the successful candidate will oversee their day to day duties, ensuring that there is sufficient admin cover on the wards, the successful candidate will also be instrumental in both the training and development. of their team.

We currently have a team of six ward managers assistants who support a number of ward managers within our division.. This is a busy role which lends itself to someone who is organised, enjoys working to tight deadlines and enjoys both working as part of a team but also happy and able to work autonomously.
The role of a ward manager's assistant is to provide professional comprehensive and confidential administrative support to allocated ward managers, the successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the ward managers, their clinical teams and administration staff .
You will be expected to arrange ward meetings/individual staff meetings, take minutes, oversee staff absences and monitor the recording of staff absences on Healthroster, you will attend ward budget meetings and assist the ward managers with any projects they wish to complete.
You will undertake audits when required to ensure that processes and procedures are adhered to.
You will also be responsible for staff appraisals, training and development of administrative staff within your designated team.
