The Role:
The corporate communications and PR team provide a complete in-house service to raise the external profile of the university, in particular its research and innovation activities. The team’s remit covers a wide range of communications disciplines, dealing with both internal and external communications.
The role of the team is to promote, enhance and protect the profile and reputation of the university locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. It also delivers the media strategy in support of the university’s strategic plans, particularly its research and innovation strategy, and its global strategy. The team works with all faculties, departments and professional services at all levels to ensure the university’s key messages are heard and understood through a variety of channels, including digital media.
The postholder will implement the university’s media strategy, in association with the senior PR and media officer, with responsibility for:
Promoting, enhancing and protecting the profile and reputation of the university, regionally, nationally and internationally
Delivering effective media content, including video and social media
Working with the faculties to identify and work with academics to provide expert comment to the media and through digital channels
The working pattern for this post is 0.6FTE, 22.2 hours per week - preferably Monday to Wednesday. Hybrid working is available for this role 1 day remote and 2 days in the office per week.
This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months (or the earlier return of the substantive postholder) for a period of maternity leave.
