About ARU:
ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive, and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
ARU's research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical, and creative fields. We deliver impactful research that tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognized by the UK's Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health, and Social Care students in the East of England, and among the UK's leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.
ARU Peterborough opened in September. The university was delivered in partnership with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and Peterborough City Council. ARU Peterborough aims to provide transformational and inclusive higher education for the city and region.
About the role:
We are developing our construction provision by launching two apprenticeships (Level 4 and Level 6) in civil engineering. We seek an individual with an innovative and disruptive approach to civil engineering and construction education to develop strategies to attract and retain diverse students. The successful candidate will build curricula to develop graduates with the skills and behaviors required by a 21st-century engineer.
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer (full or fractional) with expertise in Civil Engineering, especially structural engineering or hydraulics, to lead the new course and contribute to the Construction portfolio, including Construction Management and Quantity Surveying. Candidates should have a Degree plus a PhD or Professional Doctorate or near completion. Experience with innovative, industry-relevant, and engaging teaching techniques focusing on both technical and non-technical skills is highly desirable.
We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Applications from all community parts are welcomed, especially those traditionally underrepresented in engineering.
