The purpose of this role is to work closely with the Manager to ensure a high level of service and quality work is delivered to a varied and interesting client base.
Responsibilities include:
1. Preparation and completion of statutory accounts, year-end accounts and rental accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
2. Dealing with a varied client portfolio (T/O up to £2million) including OMBs, property investors, property developers, agricultural, retail etc.
3. Preparation of corporation tax returns and personal tax returns
4. Preparation of monthly or quarterly management accounts including forecasting and budgeting
5. Provide task support to fellow team members, sharing knowledge and providing guidance
6. Liaising with internal and/or third party external outsourcing
7. Finalising accounts under the overall control of the Manager
8. Organise your flow of work, allocating your assignments and managing your time as necessary taking into consideration your client deadlines and other constraints
9. Ensure work is completed within agreed time and budget
10. Liaise with third parties as required (HMRC, mortgage brokers, other members of your team, payroll bureau, etc)
11. Develop and maintain effective client relationships, including attending client premises as required and client meetings
12. Dealing with general incoming client queries and escalating when required
13. Identify cross selling opportunities
14. Opportunity to be involved in ad-hoc client projects
Required skills & experience:
1. AAT qualified or Qualified by experience.
2. At least 5 years of experience gained in a practice setting
3. Up to date statutory accounts knowledge and sound accounting, corporate/personal tax and VAT technical knowledge is required
4. Experience of preparing management accounts (to include forecasting and budgeting)
5. Must possess a client focused attitude and have proven experience of building and maintaining relationships with clients
