Applications are invited for the post of Specialty doctor SHO grade in urology. The successful candidate with join the urology team that provides urological services across multiple sites at the Manchester University Foundation Trust (MFT).
This post is a SHO grade for 6 months in the first instance and extendable for a further 6 months, available February 2025.Within MFT, urology services are currently spread across two inpatient sites – Manchester Royal Infirmary and Wythenshawe Hospital. Urological activity is also undertaken at North Manchester General, Withington, Trafford General and Altrincham Hospitals.
The successful candidate will be based at the Wythenshawe, Withington and Trafford General sites.
The postholder will be actively involved in the direct clinical care of patients admitted under the urology consultants for elective and emergency surgery. The candidate will attend clinics and operating sessions for elective work. There are daily consultant-led ward rounds and additional scheduled governance, radiology and MDT sessions. There is opportunity to be involved in QIP an audit.
The postholder will perform duties at the Wythenshawe urology in-patient site and will also attend elective sessions at Withington Community Hospital and Trafford General including consultant-led clinics, flexible cystoscopy and day surgery. The postholder will join the on-call rota which is a full shift rota at 1:12 covering general surgery & breast as well as urology.
