Looking for an experienced Logistics Manager who has experience overseeing, Project Managing, large multi-site logistic operations working on the largest construction projects in Europe ‘High Speed Two. Must have superb communication and stakeholder management skills. Construction experience useful but not essential, open to other industries - construction, military, events, logistics, automotive etc.
The role project manages & oversees and assures vehicle movements across 50 construction sites representing thousands of vehicle movements every week. 6 month contract with high possibility of extensions.
The Logistics Team is responsible for enabling the safe, cost-effective, sustainable and compliant delivery of HS2 through the provision of industry-leading logistics guidance, integrated planning and assurance. Managing and collaborating with 2 multibillion-pound main works civils joint ventures – your role is to ensure the contractors meet industry standards of health and safety, and support the required project delivery outcomes, namely, efficiency, quality, and environmental impact.
The Area Logistics Manager will be accountable for providing specialist Logistic support and expertise at each stage of the construction process.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Accountable for providing specialist advice and expertise at all stages of the construction process to the NEC 3 Project Manager in administering the contract.
2. Responsible for assessing the feasibility of the work.
3. Responsible for accepting, monitoring and assuring contractor compliance through their Construction Logistics Strategy (CLS), Construction Logistics Plans (CLP), and Logistic Environment Safety Sustainability Management Plan (ESSMP).
4. Responsible for liaising with the relevant teams within HS2 and the contractors to identify the logistics requirements in each area based on material demands, location of suppliers/receivers and plant requirements.
5. Responsible for collaboration with the other Area Logistics Managers and work closely with other HS2 stakeholders to ensure interface items and arrangements have been incorporated into the construction logistics plans.
6. Responsible for assisting the Senior Logistics Manager in the review, production and delivery of route-wide requirements, processes, coordinated strategy and programme for construction logistics.
7. Responsible for undertaking an assurance role during planning and construction, monitoring and reporting on the contractor’s management of logistics, safety, and compliance.
8. Responsible for leading and supporting collaboration and logistic forums.
9. Accountable for maintaining the integrity of HS2’s compound and gate naming conventions with the contractors.
Candidate Criteria:
1. Senior Logistics professional with experience on large multi-site logistic operations with hundreds if not thousands of vehicle movements.
2. Knowledge of health & safety – ability to spot logistic trends and problem solve from large amounts of data.
3. Superb communication and stakeholder management skills – with excellent influencing skills and ability to encourage collaborative working in complex construction project environments.
Skills:
1. Proven track record gained within a construction and/or logistics environment with a large proportion of “on-site” operations.
2. Demonstrable ability to work in a multi-skilled environment.
3. Ability to communicate and interface at all levels including presentations and report writing.
4. Demonstrable expertise using data for analysis and reporting purposes.
5. Ability to effectively manage own diary and work without close supervision.
6. Conflict Management - Read situations quickly; good at focused listening; can find common ground and get cooperation and constructive outcomes.
7. Decision Quality - Gathering and synthesising information, identifying options and applying sound judgement.
8. Clear Direction - Defining and prioritising objectives, analysing inputs, assessing and challenging data.
Knowledge:
1. Applicable UK construction regulations including Construction Design Management (CDM) and Construction Safety Management (CSM) requirements.
2. Knowledge of quality assurance processes.
3. Proficient use of proprietary software and IT resources.
4. Knowledge and experience of site-based processes and procedures for health, safety, environmental management.
