What you'll be doing:
At LNER, we are constantly looking for ways to grow our business and increase the number of seats we have available on our trains. Throughout 2025, we have numerous workstreams that will look to address our capacity challenge and unlock more seats for our customers. To support with this, we're looking for a Revenue Growth Manager to join our friendly team. Within this role you will be primarily responsible for managing and delivering revenue growth on a given portfolio, train or market in line with the overall objectives set by LNER, utilising Revenue Management principles and our state-of-the-art Revenue Management System. You will be part of our innovative, leading and ambitious Revenue Optimisation team within the Commercial directorate. In addition to the above, you will be responsible for:
1. Effectively manage price/ticket availability for the respective portfolio by adjusting the availability of discounted ticket quotas to maximise revenue and to minimise crowding throughout the booking horizon in line with business requirements, and by collaborating with the other Revenue Growth Managers to ensure consistency, where appropriate (inventory control, or yield/revenue management).
2. Work to ensure LNER's booking horizon is maintained and maximised to increase revenue earning potential.
3. Become the Subject Matter Expert for the respective portfolio, proactively gaining knowledge of the portfolio in terms of the value and volume it represents.
4. Interpret all key data available, including booking profiles, price sensitivities and modal competition to increase revenue and to identify opportunities for, and threats to, LNER revenue. Based on this, you will also produce recommendations to assist in the making of key business decisions.
5. Monitor specific markets for events or exceptional situations that will drive short-term demand. You will also identify opportunities to increase yield during popular periods and increase volume during quieter times.
6. Maximise revenue by reducing levels of dilution and spoilage and monitor performance vs target.
7. Collaborate with other business functions (e.g. Marketing, Catering Proposition, Ticket Retailing, On Train and Stations) to ensure revenue-focused decisioning, in general, and for promotional activity.
8. Proactively communicate Revenue Management strategies to the business, developing new ways to present information that enable a better understanding of Revenue Management.
9. Strive for continuous improvement in processes and approaches in line with changing market and economic conditions and evolving systems capability.
10. Develop awareness and understanding of Revenue Management across the business so that other departments can build their commercial acumen.
11. Ensure back up cover can be provided to cover other Revenue Optimisation team members' workload in the event of leave or sickness and for key business reports and processes. Represent LNER's interests at industry forums, when required, and partake in working groups with other DfT Operators (DfTO Group).
In terms of location, we have offices based in London and York, but we can be flexible with travel across the route. There is a requirement to be office-based at least two days per week.
What you'll need:
We are looking for a candidate with strong commercial acumen in addition to excellent analytical and communication skills to take on this integral role. You will also have:
1. Experience in a highly commercially-focused environment, preferably within a Revenue Management position. Alternatively, without employment experience, a strong capability in a relevant degree, such as economics, mathematics, statistics, operational research, etc., would be required.
2. An understanding of Revenue Management principles.
3. Experience of presenting and communicating numerical information in a straightforward and compelling manner to a wide audience.
4. Excellent analytical and numerical skills along with the ability to manipulate complex spreadsheets.
5. The ability to extract key information from large pools of data, as well as manage high levels of detailed work with more strategic analysis of markets and trains.
