Weapons Science:
Our Weapons Science capabilities cover weapons and explosives materials-related activities. Our teams are critical to providing advice and the assessment of weapons systems from long range missiles to small arms pistols. They help our customers ensure that these critical assets perform effectively and safely.
The team at Fort Halstead are primarily involved in the evaluation of explosive materials in order to ensure that systems are both safe and perform to the highest levels. Our work is unusual, but absolutely critical to saving lives and protecting our sovereign nation.
You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team on a range of customer projects which encompasses the evaluation of explosive materials. The work undertaken is unique and safe working practices in these areas are paramount. You will also be joining at an exciting time with significant investment in the site and facilities complete.
Title: Level 6 Materials Science Technologist
Course provider: Sheffield Hallam University
Any expenses for the academic elements will be reimbursed in line with QinetiQ's travel and expenses policy.
Academic requirements:
You must have been predicted or have obtained, 112 UCAS points, including at least 64 points from two A levels or equivalent BTEC national qualifications or T levels. This should include mathematics or a mathematics-based subject to at least AS level.
For example:
* BBC at A Level including mathematics or a mathematics-based subject, plus at least one other from physics, physical science, engineering science, computer science, technology, chemistry or another science or technology subject.
* DMM in BTEC Extended Diploma in a science or technology-based subject (including passes in mathematics and two other science or technology-based modules).
* Merit overall from a T level qualification - this must include a B in Core and can be from any engineering specific T level.
* Access to HE Diploma with at least 15 Level 3 credits at merit grade or above, in a Maths or Engineering programme including mathematics.
Or:
* A combination of qualifications which must include mathematics or a mathematics-based subject and may include L3 Apprenticeship, AS levels, EPQ and general studies.
* You must have also obtained, GCSE 4–9 in Maths and English Language.
Additional requirements:
* Passionate about Engineering with extracurricular activities that reflect this.
* Strong writing ability.
* Team / leadership experience (including positions held in hobbies & academic projects).
