Job overview
The Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME Service provides multi-disciplinary specialist assessment and interventions for adults with ME/ chronic fatigue syndrome and post covid fatigue.
You will be using highly specialist skills to undertake a major role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients with ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and post covid fatigue who may have diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions.
The post holder will provide assessment, individual and group interventions. Intervention may include face to face, telephone and video consultations, and occasional domiciliary visits.
Main duties of the job
* Confirm clinical diagnosis, plan and deliver the treatment indicated.
* Accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients within The Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME service.
* Work as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), to provide advice and deliver a holistic patient centred approach to care.
* Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
* Provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching and instruction to patients, relatives, carers and other professionals.
* Communicate complex assessment and treatment results within the multi disciplinary team.
* Participate in the wider responsibilities of the Specialist Rehabilitation department.
* Participate in the triaging of the referrals the service receives.

Experience and Knowledge
* Extensive theoretical knowledge of chronic fatigue syndrome/ME
* Highly specialised knowledge of long-term conditions acquired through in-depth experience and/or post graduate education
* Experience working as part of a therapy team and/or multi-disciplinary team in the NHS or Social Services
Skills and Ability
* Able to present complex information written and orally in a clear and logical manner.
* Able to motivate, using highly developed negotiating and diplomacy skills
* Able to develop and implement specialist treatment programmes.
* Able to manage and supervise staff and undertake appraisals
Communication
* Able to share and discuss condition related information, including sensitive and prognostic information with patient and carers.
* Able to identify and obtain relevant information from patients, carers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
