Reimagine the possibilities Your role and responsibilities Are you a fully qualified and registered Occupational Therapist? Suffolk County Council is looking for a qualified Occupational Therapist to join our Disabled Children and Young People's team, working across the Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Lowestoft area. Your role aims to: Maximise the quality of life and increase independence for the children and young people we support. Enhance safety by providing specialist equipment and adaptations, and supporting parents and carers in their roles. Key responsibilities include: Conducting high-quality occupational therapy assessments of need within the local authority's statutory responsibility. Performing assessments in the home environment for children and young people with complex disabilities. Identifying difficulties and exploring solutions through advice, information, provision of equipment, minor/major adaptations, and liaising with professionals from health and education sectors. Collaborating with wider organisations such as Housing organisations and Community Equipment Services. You will need To be fully qualified and registered with the HCPC (newly qualified OTs will be considered). Experience of working with disabled children, preferably within a Social Care setting (desirable). Motivation and adaptability. The ability to work independently and autonomously as well as part of a team. Organisational skills to manage your own workload. The team The Children and Young People’s Occupational Therapy Team is a small, committed, and supportive team of Occupational Therapy Managers and Occupational Therapists. We work alongside Social Workers, Family Support Workers, and Business Support colleagues within the Disabled Children and Young People’s Team. The team provides both social care and occupational therapy support to children, young people with complex disabilities, and their families/carers. You will: Receive regular supervision from your Occupational Therapy Managers and peer support from your team colleagues. Be able to access regular training to support your development in your role.
