Job Description
Job Purpose:
Under the general guidance of the F&B Leadership team, assist in ensuring efficient service of all food in the venue and provide guests with exceptional service by assisting and supporting the wait staff.
Duties & Functions:
1. Must love and support their TEAM!
2. Must love and take care of guests!
3. Must say “yes” and “thank you” often!
4. Assist, support and work with bartenders and waiters.
5. Understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner, deferring to the Restaurant Manager when necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
6. Follow all specified procedures to provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service to guests, including describing menu items, taking and serving food and beverage orders; and opening, closing, and presenting guest checks.
7. Expedite the service of food from the kitchen to the restaurant and pick up dirty glassware and plates, replacing them with clean silverware and glassware.
8. Run all food from the kitchen to assigned table station and other stations as needed.
9. Always use position numbers.
10. Receive food and place hot food into warmers and cold food and salads into reach-ins.
11. Keep warmers/refrigerators clean throughout the shift.
12. Understand the order taken and any changes to the menu.
13. Be aware of all upcoming orders and the status of tables expecting food.
14. Clean and sanitize all china, glassware, silverware, flatware, pots, and pans in the hotel.
15. Ensure the restaurant has the requisite amounts of the above to properly open their shifts and that there are sufficient racks in which to place dirty dishes, silverware, pots, and pans.
16. Satisfactorily perform, as directed, all routine opening and closing side duties including preparing folding napkins and stocking and pre-setting up of station to facilitate food service.
17. Maintain the proper care and cleanliness of tableware and serving equipment, handling both to minimize breakage.
18. Follow all specified procedures to correctly handle all cash, credit, and gift certificate transactions.
19. Ensure order of restaurant and cleanliness in accordance with health and safety regulations.
20. Refill beverages.
21. Maintain knowledge of all menus within the hotel.
22. Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service at all times.
23. Remove all glasses, plates, utensils, and napkins from tables.
24. Ensure standards and guest requirements are met at all times.
25. Prepare tea, coffee, water, and soft drinks.
Qualifications
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2. One to two years in a public contact position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel.
3. Must have an exceptional personality and hospitality-driven attitude.
4. Possess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanor.
5. Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and have a high level of attention to detail.
6. Maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments.
7. Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork.
8. Must be able to stand or walk a minimum of eight-hour shift.
9. Must be observant and quick to respond to various situations while also multitasking and handling stressful situations.
10. Must be able to twist, tow (push or pull), reach, bend, climb, and carry objects as necessary.
11. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Must be able to work inside and outside at all times of the year as needed, based upon business volumes.
