Job description:

We are looking for Senior Project Managers to lead and deliver innovative projects that reduce the risk of flooding and enhance the environment.
This role is within Programme & Contract Management (PCM) and is a senior position in our integrated project teams, responsible for delivery as the Client project manager or accountability as project executive. You will mentor and be part of the East Technical Leadership Team.
You will build an effective working environment with high-performing teams, applying your strong commercial acumen in project, contract, and risk management. You will establish effective relationships and facilitate collaborative ways of working, making key project decisions informed by technical leads while following governance procedures.
The ability to develop a resilient network of relationships with stakeholders such as statutory authorities, landowners, and local communities is crucial.
Responding to incidents is a central part of EA's work. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond or provide business continuity support during incidents.
The team:
We are the Programme and Contracts Management team (PCM), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. The East PCM hub is led by a Delivery Manager overseeing circa 120 staff, supported by Programme Specialists, Programme Managers, and Project Team Managers (PTM).
Experience/skills required:
Essential:
1. Significant experience in project delivery and contract management, ideally within engineering, construction, and/or flood & coastal risk management.
2. A track record for delivering results in technically challenging projects.
3. Ability to lead and develop project teams with strategic thinking.
4. A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering, environmental or geography-related discipline.
Desirable:
1. Experience as a Project Executive, holding accountability for a programme of work.
2. Chartered membership of a professional body such as ICE, CIWEM or APMP.
3. Technical expertise in hydrology, river modelling, feasibility assessment, asset management, and engineering design.
