Role Purpose
The bakery at Mademoiselle Desserts Taunton produces frozen desserts for the UK foodservice and retail café markets. The role will have responsibility for the management of the site Quality Assurance Systems and management of the site hygiene teams driving an improvement in site hygiene standards, ensuring products are manufactured safely and to the required customer and external accreditation standard.
The role will be responsible and accountable for developing and delivering site improvement projects that will require input from and co-ordination with multiple site functions to deliver the end goal. It will require a high degree of interaction with the manufacturing environment and personnel and must be confident in driving and influencing change and improvement in these areas.
The suitable candidate must be a confident and effective communicator across all levels of the site structure and broader business group, and must display strong team leadership and development skills.
Principal Accountabilities, not limited to
* Manage the site hygiene team driving an improvement in site hygiene standards. The site hygiene team operates across both double day shifts and night shift and the role will require attending all shifts to support the hygiene teams in their tasks and development.
* Challenge hygiene practices and standards across the three operating shifts with the aim of improving hygiene standards and reducing food safety incidences. Assist with Root Cause investigation when incidents or trends appear.
* Maintain hygiene and compliance testing schedules, for example environmental swabbing, allergen validation tests, to comply with customer codes of practice.
* Be proficient and confident in interpretation of food industry microbial standards.
* Manage the site Quality Management Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring products are manufactured safely and to maintain compliance with company, customer, and external accreditation requirements. Ensure regular reviews are carried out to maintain compliance and up to date procedures and documentation.
* Drive improvement and consistency in product quality standards and support the operations team in delivering this goal.
Training and Qualifications
* Third level qualification in food related science
* At least 2 years’ experience in Quality Management / technologist role

* Ability to lead and manage a team
* Good communication skills
* IT proficient
