The CYP Eating Disorders Team is a multi-award winning, recovery focused, multidisciplinary community team working with under 18's with Anorexia, Bulimia and Binge Eating Disorder.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and committed CAMHS Community Eating Disorder Nurse.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work as an influential and integral member of a diverse multi-disciplinary team offering specialist assessment and treatment for young people and their families suffering with an eating disorder.
You will be able to demonstrate clinical knowledge and interest in the area of eating disorders, and will have experience of working with this client group.
You will receive regular individual and group supervision and support, and will be actively encouraged to participate in continuing professional development and be involved in service development.
Job responsibilities
1. To work autonomously, in consultation with the multi-disciplinary team, to provide child and family-centred treatment in the community.
2. To develop individualized goal-oriented care plans in line with standardized treatment pathways.
3. To support the provision of care with relevant multi-disciplinary team members.
4. To regularly review care plans and treatment pathways.
5. To work closely with the Adult Eating Disorder Service for seamless transitions.
6. To act as a care-coordinator to a caseload of young people.
7. To participate in planning, implementation, and evaluation of treatment plans.
8. To liaise with our dietitian to develop eating plans for service users.
9. To continuously assess and report responses to treatment.
10. To ensure risk assessments regarding physical and psychological safety are undertaken and regularly reviewed.
Person Specification
Training
* Registered Nurse Qualification/Registered with the NMC
* Post qualification experience in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services
Experience
* Nursing Interventions for young people with Eating Disorders
* Knowledge of evidence based practice & its contribution to practice governance
* Clinical experience and ability to demonstrate application of clinical skills
* Ability to assess young people with eating disorders including their family unit & risk assessment
* Planning and coordination of treatment packages
* Evidence of CPD and commitment to lifelong learning
* Understanding of clinical issues in relation to eating disorders
* In-depth knowledge of current best practice in Eating Disorders and Mental Health
* Ability to deal with distressing issues with the young person and family
* Knowledge of menu planning and nutritional interventions in Eating Disorders
Communication Skills
* Clear communication through written, verbal and non-verbal modes including report writing
* Interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of an MDT
* Ability to communicate with young people and their parents
* Show respect and treat people with dignity
* Ability to deliver training and speak at conferences
Physical Skills
* Car driver (unless you have a disability as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act 1995)
* IT Skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel & use of Electronic Patient Record Systems
* Requirement to drive across the county of Hertfordshire
General
