Quantity Surveyor Groundworks & Civil Engineering Salary: £60,000 - £85,000 per annum, plus comprehensive package An exciting opportunity awaits a Quantity Surveyor to join our team and support our clients as we build the foundations for brand new commercial buildings and residential properties across the Warwickshire and Oxfordshire locations, With a strong presence in the West Midlands for over 30 years, our client stands as a leading contractor in the Groundworks & Civils Sector. Responsibilities: As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in the post-contract commercial management of projects valued up to £10m. Key tasks and responsibilities include: Undertaking accurate take-offs and pricing for tendering and re-tendering activities. Preparing and reaching agreements on applications for payment for single or multiple jobs. Compiling comprehensive weekly and monthly internal project reports, encompassing cash versus cost analysis, cost value reconciliations, budgets, forecasts, payments, and comparing them against budgets/forecasts. Effectively managing the supply chain from enquiry to final account, conducting performance reviews, formulating procurement plans, comparing quotations, placing orders, and preparing subcontract documents. Identifying, valuing, and presenting change items, such as CEs, claims, and EWNs. Overseeing cost capture, cost allocation, accruals, and subcontract liabilities. Managing contracts, including contract and tender negotiations (up/down), maintaining stakeholder liaison, and conducting monthly meetings, while producing detailed reports and schedules. Handling material enquiries, quotations, ordering, and reconciliations. Ensuring all relevant notifications and documents are kept up-to-date and submitted promptly. Vigilantly addressing safety risk situations and promptly notifying management. Collaborating with site teams, subcontractors, and clients' representatives, actively participating in site meetings as required. Providing contractual advice and counsel on commercial risks and opportunities to the site team as needed. Demonstrating a proactive approach to self-development and pursuing professional qualifications. Adhering diligently to company procedures and processes. Person Specification: To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes: A minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience with a relevant HNC or degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field. Preferred experience in subcontracting or contracting within civil engineering, groundworks, or earthworks. Desirable: Knowledge and appreciation of the Highways sector. Membership in a relevant professional institute, Chartered status, or progress towards obtaining it. Hold a CSCS card.
