A Specialist school for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs are looking for an experienced Class Teacher to teach a SEN KS1 class within a SEMH setting.
The Role
The school are looking for an experienced SEND Class Teacher to work of working with SEND students in a SEMH setting. The students primarily present SEND Autism, Global Development Delay and majority of students are non-verbal. Some of the students present SEMH needs, however, the primary need in the class is SEND. You will be supporting them developing their day to day and academic skills as well as their social emotional needs, in preparation for their transition to secondary education.
Due to the nature of this role, the school are looking for highly experienced Teaching Assistants or HLTAs with previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH or complex emotional and behavioural needs. PRU or similar experience would be preferable. Restraint training such as PRICE or de-escalation training is desirable, however, not essential; as PRICE training will be provided.
