The Department for Transport’s Maritime Directorate is seeking a proactive, organised, and enthusiastic individual to support business management functions. This role involves collaborating with the Maritime Director and Senior Management Team (SMT) to coordinate corporate responsibilities, particularly in recruitment and reporting. The ideal candidate will be skilled in communicating complex information to diverse audiences, securing outcomes amidst competing priorities, and building relationships with key stakeholders.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Corporate Reporting Lead, developing and embedding greater resilience across the roles and responsibilities in the team, ensuring the team is effectively supporting the Department’s goal of being a great place to work.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Lead the directorate’s recruitment and resourcing function; proactively liaising with line managers and the key stakeholders in Departmental Resourcing Group to establish and embed a new and streamlined process for supporting recruitment across the Directorate.
* Lead the directorate’s process for onboarding new starters.
* Responsible for maintaining an accurate record of headcount and vacancies across the Directorate, working closely with recruiting managers and the Senior Management Team to develop a single, objective representation of people and positions across the directorate, which should be updated independently in ‘real time’ as vacancies emerge and as posts are filled.
* Work closely with the Director and Senior Management (SMT) to coordinate and deliver Directorate corporate responsibilities and functions relating to people and recruitment. The role holder will also act as Secretariat for the monthly Corporate SMT meeting, working closely with the Head of Director’s Office to coordinate.
* Lead Risk and Milestone coordination for the Directorate, working with division leads to make sure that risk and milestone updates are accurate and timely as well as providing guidance on best practice on reporting to teams.
* Produce papers and data for our Corporate SMT on risks and milestones, leading challenge and scrutiny along the way to support effectively delivery and oversight of Maritime Priorities.
* Work closely with the Head of Corporate and Reporting Functions to develop and embed effective processes for managing the core business functions of the directorate.
