An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Benefits Governance and Standards team as a Pensions Knowledge and Capability Advisor based in Darlington, hybrid working, on a permanent basis.
Who we are
Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.
Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. Railpen takes a holistic view, focusing on how we serve members today and how we can positively impact the communities and the world they will retire into.
Our values of integrity, community and alignment are the guiding principles that influence our behaviour. They help us make decisions and shape our relationships with others. They’re what we stand for.
The role
The role of the Pensions Knowledge and Capability Advisor is to support the delivery and maintenance of the technical knowledge and capability plan and framework. The framework demonstrates understanding, competency, and areas for progression in each administration process. It also supports effective performance management in accordance with Railpen standards, the Customer Charter, and our member first vision.
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
The person
We are looking for someone who has demonstrable knowledge and experience of working within the pensions sector and associated administration, with an awareness of scheme rules and where escalations are required. This role requires somebody who has the ability to convert technical information into a useable and easily understood process. Effective report writing skills and communication skills, both written and verbal are key to this role.
The successful candidate will be passionate about developing colleagues across Railpen and comfortable in actively seeking and encouraging feedback, whilst challenging assumptions and established practices which may not align with scheme rules. You will be organised within your approach and have the ability to collaborate and offer support at all levels across Railpen.
