Role
Govan Community Project provides a range of holistic services for people seeking asylum, refugees and vulnerable migrants in the Greater Govan area of Glasgow.
We are recruiting a Bike Library Coordinator with a passion for cycling and a working knowledge of bike mechanics who can support and motivate others to the positive benefits of active travel.
You will be responsible for supporting people from asylum seeking backgrounds to access bikes through a lending scheme. You will also organise cycling activities to promote engagement, physical and mental wellbeing, and community cohesion.
Our ideal candidate will be a very confident cyclist, including being highly proficient in road cycling and road safety, with a working knowledge of bike maintenance. You will be comfortable delivering activities within a diverse community, and communicating and supporting individuals where there may be language barriers. You should also have excellent organisational and record keeping skills.

Greener Kirkcaldy is a community-led charity working locally to bring people together, take positive action on the climate emergency and support people through fuel poverty and food insecurity. We deliver a range of projects, events and skills training to achieve the needs and goals of local people – building resilience as a community and working towards a future where everyone can live better and tread more lightly on our planet.
Based in the heart of Kirkcaldy – with a community building, training kitchen, bike shop and garden – we carry out activities across Kirkcaldy and work with partners to deliver projects across Fife.
Our community training kitchen, The Lang Spoon Community Kitchen, is a place for people to come together to cook, eat and learn. It offers training, volunteer and work experience opportunities, community cooking classes and a wide range of events, courses and workshops on all aspects of food and drink.
We run a regular community meal, a community fridge and a range of activities for different groups, interests and demographics. This includes projects teaching people skills to cook on a budget, workshops promoting climate-friendly food, employability programmes, kids clubs and income-generating social enterprise classes. We also have a small kitchen garden, growing fresh ingredients. As well as activities on-site, we deliver events and workshops with groups in other community locations across Fife.
The Role
As Community Food Team Manager, you will lead the development, planning and management of our vibrant and busy community kitchen, ensuring delivery of a varied programme of community events and activities, in accordance with our values, funding commitments and social enterprise aspirations. You will also lead the development of new and enterprising ideas to grow our vision of a place for people to come together to grow, cook, eat and learn, working with the Senior Leadership Team to secure the resources to develop new project ideas.
You will use your leadership skills to manage and support the development of a team of four and ensure our Community Food Volunteers are adequately supported, supervised and celebrated.
You will use your existing knowledge of the local social, political and cultural community food landscape to ensure Greener Kirkcaldy continues to be recognised as an informed, trustworthy and impactful organisation by funders, partners and decision-makers in the sector.

About the Role:
The Diploma in Integrative Counselling is a COSCA Validated 2 year part time course. GCA is one of the founding COSCA members and adheres to the COSCA ethical framework for good practice in counselling, psychotherapy and counselling skills. The course requires tutors who are accredited by COSCA to Diploma level or committed to work towards accreditation. Tutors should be experienced Counsellors who are accredited with an appropriate professional body, or working towards accreditation (e.g., COSCA/BACP/UKCP).
The Course Tutor / Trainer will be embedded in one Diploma Class but will be expected to contribute to other classes when required and deliver COSCA skills courses and CPD training workshops when required.
Course Tutor / Trainers will be required to work evenings and weekends. Course Tutor / Trainers will also be assigned a specific class/cohort to work with.
Key Responsibilities:
* Facilitate learning; delivering lectures, tutorials, experiential groups, supervision and observed skills practice feedback.
* Contribute to the creation of Diploma Policies and Procedures, including maintenance and updating of the course handbook.
* Create learning plans and appropriate materials in relation to both the Diploma and other COSCA courses or CPD.
* Attend Team Meetings/ Liaise with other Course Tutor / Trainers about course content & materials.
* Issue pre-course reading to students at regular intervals.
* Engage with students via the Moodle forum on the learning support platform.
* Hold responsibility for student welfare, offering 1:1 sessions to the students for whom the tutor is nominated personal tutor.
* Mark and cross mark allocated assignments and provide written feedback, via Moodle and Turnitin.
* Respond to correspondence by students via Moodle/email and ensure emails are checked and responded to on a weekly basis.
* Share responsibility for monitoring content on Moodle, ensuring it has been updated for the class and ensuring materials in a variety of formats are uploaded.
* Keep adequate records, for example attendance, 1:1 recording, skills observation feedback, assignment extensions requests etc.
* Assess students for fitness to practice and offer professional references in relation to placement, endorsement to practice and COSCA membership.
* Support the Monitoring and evaluation of training.
* Liaise with placement providers to ensure students can access opportunities in line with course requirements in liaison with the Lead Course Tutor.
* Participate in the assessment interviews and intake of new students, liaising with the Head of Diploma and Training, Lead Course Tutors and Training Co-ordinator.
* Contribute to development of a CPD calendar, leading on aspects of planning and delivery.
* Undertake any other duties as required by Head of Diploma and Training.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Diploma in Counselling/Psychotherapy.
* Accredited COSCA Diploma Trainer (or eligible to work towards this).
* Accredited COSCA/BACP/BABCP/UKCP.
* Proven experience in education, training and delivering presentations.
* Proven experience in group working and enabling participation, partnership working preferable.

* Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with groups of people across age ranges.

Overview of Organisation:
Heavy Sound is a Community Interest Company, incorporated in 2015, based in East Lothian. We work with disconnected young people and adults, re-engaging them through strength-based activities of interest including music, biking, sports, creative arts, education, mentoring and 1:1 therapy. By building trusting relationships we help inspire positive opportunities for further learning, life skills development, and future training and employment.
Job role:
The role is to manage and deliver outreach youth work projects, activities, and events across East Lothian, working in partnership with existing youth clubs and other stakeholders.
Heavy Sound has a 40ft single decker bus, The Community Reach & Inclusion Bus (The Crib) which provides community outreach initiatives including music, creative arts, and bike activities. The role will involve bringing equipment, and on occasions our bus (The Crib), along to youth clubs and community events, and running various activities from it. Activities will mainly be music and bike-based consisting of DJ’ing, electronic music production and basic bike mechanics. If there is not suitable space for The Crib, activities take place in community halls etc.
The role can either be part-time to deliver the above, or potentially full-time if the applicant has an additional skillset in music, creative arts, biking, sports, outdoor pursuits, education, or mentoring.
An ability to drive the bus is not essential but would be highly desirable. Only a normal Category B driving license is required as the vehicle doesn’t carry passengers and is classed as a ‘mobile project vehicle’ by DVLA.
Flexible working is required as there will be evening and occasional weekend work.
Under the guidance of the Islands Estate Manager, the Camas Maintenance Worker’s role is to undertake general maintenance work on the facilities and equipment at the Camas Centre and occasionally on Iona.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensuring the Camas facilities and equipment are maintained to a safe and high standard, while observing Camas’ environmental and ethical policies. Facilities include the Camas buildings, grounds and track.
* Coordinating and supervising visitors and volunteers in routine maintenance work.
* Liaising with and working alongside outside contractors where necessary.
* Supporting maintenance projects on Iona where required.
