We have an exciting opportunity to join the East Suffolk Council's Corporate Health and Safety team as a Health and Safety Advisor, specifically supporting our Port Health Team in Felixstowe.
We are looking for someone with recent experience in a health and safety compliance advisory role, recognised health and safety qualifications and a full UK driving licence.
Your key responsibilities
* Provide expert health and safety advice, primarily to our Port Health Team in Felixstowe, while also supporting various council service areas such as estates management, regulatory functions, office activities, and housing.
* Collaborate with managers, supervisors, and staff to foster a positive safety culture and ensure legislative compliance. This includes educating and advising on legislative changes and best practices.
* Drive continual improvement by assisting in the development and review of health and safety policies, auditing safe work systems, and conducting investigations into work-related incidents.
What we are looking for
* Strong team player with excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
* Ability to effectively translate complex health and safety regulations into clear, actionable guidance for all organizational levels.
* Excellent prioritization skills, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
