Duties
* Classroom teaching, tutorial work and associated outreach duties, residential, open and distance learning courses and student placements.
* All associated organisational and administrative work, preparation and marking and appropriate student welfare and academic counselling responsibilities.
* Act as a Personal Tutor to students as required and undertaking all of the associated duties including pastoral care support.
* Make a full contribution to the team approach to learning and teaching.
* Implement a student-centred negotiated learning programme in accordance with the College’s curriculum framework.
* Implement agreed induction procedures and processes for students.
* Ensure that students are informed of what is expected of them at every stage of their programme and that an awareness of what the programme involves is a feature of all reviews undertaken with students.
* Ensure that appropriate assignments, tasks and activities are regularly set and assessed and that feedback is given to students in ways that will allow them to develop and achieve progression.
* Contribute to the organisation of and ensure that there are appropriate work placements.
Skills/Experience
* Adaptable and flexible in approach.
* Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all ages and levels.
* Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines within a busy environment.
Qualifications
* Minimum GCSE Grade 4 /C or Equivalent Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English.
* Level 4 qualification in the relevant area of expertise (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe).
* Level 5 Teaching qualification (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe).
Ideal Attributes
* Highly motivated professional with a range of industry experience and knowledge.
* Good working knowledge of IT tools.
* Adaptable and flexible in approach.
* Excellent knowledge of recent initiatives in curriculum development and design.
