JOB PURPOSE
As part of our ambitious growth plans, we are looking to recruit a new Head of Innovation & Investment. This key role will lead initiatives in innovation, inward investment, and economic development to deliver Rochdale Boroughs Growth Plan and RDA Business Plan. The Head of Innovation & Investment will play a central role in driving transformational growth and unlocking strategic opportunities, such as Atom Valley which will create 1.6 million square metres of employment land for industrial uses and create 20,000 new good quality jobs and opportunities for the Boroughs residents and rebalance the Greater Manchester economy.
The role involves fostering business engagement, promoting research and development, and aligning skills to drive prosperity across the borough. You will strategically coordinate programmes and partnerships that support Rochdales socio-economic objectives, with a focus on innovation, skills development, and business support to achieve our ambitious goals.
This means unlocking growth potential through innovation-driven approaches and inward investment strategies. You will build partnerships with businesses, academic institutions, and regional stakeholders to drive collaborative projects. Additionally, you will enhance economic development services by delivering targeted support to businesses, promoting high-value jobs, and fostering skills alignment.
We are seeking an exceptional strategic leader to guide and manage teams focused on business engagement, inward investment, and skills development. As a key member of the RDA Senior Leadership Team, you will collaborate with other service areas, including Culture and Placemaking, to maximise investment opportunities and drive socio-economic prosperity. You will work closely with key stakeholders, such as the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, government bodies, and both public and private sector partners, to design and implement high-impact initiatives. It is essential that you ensure RDAs innovation and investment priorities align with the strategic goals of Rochdale Council, driving job creation, economic resilience, and talent retention across the borough.
