Job Description NATS is the UK’s leading air navigation service provider, handling over 2 million flights each year. It provides air traffic control services from two control centres supporting airports all around the UK, as well as a wide range of commercial solutions to over 30 countries internationally. As a key member of the team the Operations Assistant will be expected to provide a broad range of support activities as instructed by local management to ensure the efficient running of the Airport operation. Demonstrating a high level of flexibility the Operations Assistant will provide a general support service to the local unit. Principle accountabilities: Providing support across the airport, the following tasks will be undertaken as agreed through the support staff strategy. (Note the list is not exhaustive and in some instances may or may not be required to be undertaken at a specific unit). (Note that these general support activities may also be undertaken by someone not covered by this role profile): Purchasing related activities & financial control/LVs, stationery. Visitor contacts / permits / passes. Vehicle management where required. Maintaining filing systems. SFP First Aid / Fire Warden Meetings/note taking if required. Maintaining operational statistics, databases and reporting which might include, KPIs and reconciliation of traffic statistics. Document Control. Other reasonable administration support actives as required. Receive and action flight plans/flight progress strips and other related flight data. Some units may have a requirement for flight plan processing to be undertaken. Met observations using appropriate equipment. Support tasks related to the ATC simulator including input support and acting as a pseudo pilot where required. If appropriate to the unit slot monitoring and co-ordination with CFMU. Following appropriate training carry out investigations, hazard analysis and procedure creation, in accordance with the SMS (Safety Management System) Accurate recording of flight information and reports using appropriate technology/equipment Instruct and train new team members. Any other reasonable support tasks required by the local unit. Use of any new equipment installed in the airport to help with operational support tasks. Qualifications & experience: A good standard of literacy and numeracy is essential for these roles. The post holder will posses a minimum of five GCSEs grades A-C to include maths and English. A strong team player is required with the ability to demonstrate flexibility in meeting various working demands placed upon them. It is essential that the post holder is able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation internal to NATS and externally with customers of NATS. Good IT skills. Familiarity with Microsoft office. New staff will receive on the job training in the various activities undertaken in this job. Successful completion of a Met Observation Scheme subject to unit requirement.
