4332 - Senior Clerk: RTT Validation, Data Quality & Tracking
6 Months fixed term/Secondment Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the obstetrics and gynaecology team as a Senior Clerk - RTT Validation, Data Quality and Tracking. This role will support the service in ensuring that waiting list information is up to date and accurate in order for the service to meet the needs of patients in Barnsley.
The main duties of the role will be to validate the gynaecology waiting list and work with the gynaecology team to provide a robust strategy for ensuring that waiting lists for gynaecology are managed effectively going forward to ensure it remains validated for future use. This will involve working with the service manager and operational support manager to implement training and guidelines for managing the waiting list.
The successful candidate will be required to have a good understanding of Referral To Treatment (RTT) principles and of the patient information systems at Barnsley Hospital. The role provides a great opportunity to broaden your understanding of waiting list management and have a direct impact on the quality of care of patients treated in Barnsley.
The role will be based at Barnsley Hospital with some opportunities for flexible and home working.
Main duties of the job
The major job responsibility will be to carry out timely, accurate and relevant validation, quality assurance and tracking Referral to Treatment (RTT) pathways in order to support the business and operational needs of the Clinical Business Unit (CBU) in conjunction with the Operational Support Manager and Service Manager. The main duties of the role are detailed below:
1. To assess complex patient pathways, taking into account a range of facts or situations requiring the analysis and evaluation of options in order to determine appropriate 18WW RTT status coding.
2. To work directly with staff to improve their knowledge and understanding of 18WW RTT principles and application by providing one to one support, group training and updating the online training package.
3. To diagnose the causes of data errors and develop guidance materials to address them.
4. To participate in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures across the CBU in relation to RTT.

* A demonstrable and in-depth understanding of the NHS Cancer target, associated principles and their application.
* A demonstrable understanding of the importance of data quality and the impact of poor quality on operational systems.
* A willingness to undertake training as required to deliver the duties of the post.
* Knowledge of the Cancer Outcomes and Services Data set.

* Experience of delivering group training.
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent) including English Language at Grade C (or equivalent) or above.
* NVQ Level 3 Administration or Customer Care/IT or equivalent qualification or demonstrable experience.
* ECDL or equivalent.
