HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER ABOUT THE ROLE A BRIEF SUMMARY We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead our health and safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience of working within the broadcast and/or live events sector, along with a strong understanding of the CDM regulations and a proven track record in managing health and safety in dynamic and challenging environments. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety of our staff and crew, at our main operating centres, production centres and on outside broadcasts in the UK and internationally. WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR Culture of Safety: Foster a proactive safety culture within the team, encouraging open communication and accountability regarding health and safety matters. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with staff, managers and external partners to ensure that health and safety protocols are integrated into all aspects of base activity and outside broadcast planning and execution. Reporting and Monitoring: Monitor health and safety performance metrics, prepare reports for senior management, and recommend improvements based on findings. Training and Development: Design and deliver health and safety training programmes, specifically tailored for outside broadcast operations, promoting awareness and compliance among all team members. Management of onboarding training and maintenance of training matrix. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to UK health and safety regulations, as well as industry best practices. Incident Management: Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring thorough records are kept and suitable corrective action is implemented. Risk Assessments & SOPs: Advise & assist responsible managers with the writing of comprehensive risk assessments and Standard Operating Procedures for activities that take place across all operating centre and outside broadcast activities. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans tailored for each of our operating centres and outside broadcasts, conducting drills and evaluations to ensure team readiness in case of incidents. ISO 45001: Maintain health and safety management systems in line with ISO 45001 standards, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance. THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF A minimum Level 3 qualification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH or equivalent, ) Ideally a chartered member of IOSH or similar industry body (or can demonstrate progress towards this aim). Extensive experience in health and safety management, preferably with a focus on the television outside broadcast sector. Knowledge and experience in implementing and maintaining health and safety management systems such as ISO 45001. Ideally a construction related qualification such as – SMSTS An understanding of the requirements of BS7909 Strong understanding of relevant health and safety regulations, industry best practices and the ability to take a creative and pragmatic approach regarding implementation of control measures. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments with changing priorities. Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail. IT literate – Competent in the use of commonly used Microsoft software packages – Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
