Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I’m a young woman in my mid twenties living in Barry.
I am shy when meeting new people so don’t always communicate verbally and can be quiet, please encourage me with questions and asking me to say out loud what I want. I communicate really clearly over the phone and am very good at texting. I sometimes use symbols to aid my communication.
Some of the things I enjoy doing are going to the farm, out shopping, out in the community and to church which is very important to me.
On my list of things to learn is trampolining and swimming so my new PA will help me achieve this.
PURPOSE OF JOB
To support me out in the community, encourage my independence and living skills. Also to ensure my mum knows I am safe.
HOURS OF WORK
8 hours per week, over 2 – 3 days per week.
RATE OF PAY
£14.00 per hour and 0.40p a mile.
TASKS INVOLVED
Develop independent living skills, such as learning to use the washing machine and how to do laundry
Using the bus to get about as I have a bus pass
Going out to activities of my choice
You’ll need to prompt me with basic personal care when we are out and about, remind me to use the toilet before heading off
I can take my own medication, you’ll just need to prompt and remind me
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Someone who shares similar interests
Outgoing and talkative so you can encourage me these traits in me
Experience isn’t essential, just needs to be the right person
Patient, kind and friendly
You must be sensible and reliable
Full UK driver’s license is essential, with access to own car
ABOUT THE JOB
This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid 4 weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
