Head of Legal | Ethical Fintech Start-up | London
The Client:
Harmonic is delighted to be working with an innovative and ethically focussed FinTech Start-up who have experienced significant growth over the past few years/ they are looing for someone to join their 50-person team, to support the Chief Legal Officer as the business continues to scale. Having diversified their product offering, they are seeking an experience Head of Legal with a background working in financial services or scaling Fintech’s.

The role:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Legal to join our team in London. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer, the Head of Legal will play a pivotal role in overseeing the company's legal affairs, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and providing strategic legal guidance to support the company’s innovative financial products and services.
Responsibilities:
* Legal Strategy and Compliance: Develop and implement legal strategies that align with Pfida's mission and business objectives. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, particularly in the fintech and financial services sectors.
* Contract Management: Oversee the drafting, review, negotiation, and management of all contracts and legal documents. Ensure that all contracts are up-to-date and compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
* Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks and provide proactive solutions to mitigate them. Advise senior management on legal implications of business decisions and strategies.
* Litigation Management: Manage and oversee any litigation or disputes involving the company. Coordinate with external legal counsel as necessary.
* Policy Development: Develop and maintain internal policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and promote ethical practices within the organization.
* Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the legal team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments to provide legal support for product development, marketing, operations, and other business activities.
Requirements:
* A qualified solicitor or barrister with a current practicing certificate in England and Wales.
* A minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience, preferably within the financial services or fintech sectors.
* Strong knowledge of financial regulations, compliance requirements, and corporate governance
* Strong commercial contract experience
* Proven experience in contract negotiation and management.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a legal team.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capabilities.
* Experience working in Financial Services or Fintech
Bonus experience:
* Experience working in Isalamic Finance
* Previous start-up or scale-up experience
* Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a legal team
Salary: £125,000 - £140,000
Location: East London (3 days in office)
