An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic Locally Employed Doctors (LED) to join Mid-Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are a mid-sized, busy but friendly District General Hospital in the heart of the Cheshire countryside in the North-West of England close to Manchester and Liverpool. The appointee will join in-patient acute teams based at Leighton Hospital. These are 12-month rotational posts ST1/2 level. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop experience and clinical skills in 2 specialty areas within the Trust.
These posts would be perfect for doctors who have finished foundation training and wish to explore posts in a number of specialties, they are also ideal for international medical graduates early in their career wanting to gain experience in the NHS.For those new to the NHS, there is considerable support to enable a smooth transition, including an enhanced induction both to the Trust and to the NHS followed by a shadowing period.
Following this initial period, there is rolling monthly half-day teaching for this specific cohort of doctors. Additionally, all doctors will be given an electronic portfolio for recording of evidence of practice, crucial for application for specialty training in the UK.

Posts consist of two six-month posts, for example in acute/general medicine and Emergency medicine, General surgery and emergency medicine or Paediatrics and General medicine. We also usually have posts in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, ENT and Urology. Further examples of possible rotations are detailed in the job description.
The successful candidate will undertake a full and equal part in the provision of the out of hours on-call service at Leighton Hospital with colleagues on a specialty full shift rota. The frequency of this will vary depending on specialty, however, all will be resident on site. Roles will be predominantly ward-based but opportunities will be available to attend other areas such as clinics or theatre as regular duties allow. Staff will be supported by middle grade doctors and Consultants in their specialty area.
In addition, the post holder will be required to undertake Continued Professional Development (CPD) both to ensure training and learning but also to fulfil appraisal and revalidation requirements. Self Development Time (SDT) of an hour a week will be rostered to facilitate this and promote participation in Quality Improvement Work. The Trust is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.

Essential person specifications required for the role:
• Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practise
• MB ChB or equivalent
• Completion of Foundation Competencies or equivalent experience, demonstrating appropriate skills to work at ST1 level
• The ability to prioritise clinical needs
• An awareness of their own limitations
• The ability to assess, recognise and initiate management of acutely ill patients
• The ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English
• Capable of discussing treatment options with patients in a professional and understanding manner
• Capable of establishing good working relations with patients, carers and multi-disciplinary colleagues
• Experience of the audit process
• High ethical / professional standards in line with GMC Standards and Good Medical Practice
