What will you be doing as a Category Manager? Working as part of the purchasing team, you will be carrying out market analysis, negotiating and managing suppliers to drive value in sourcing goods and services, and ensuring continuous improvement within the category. Duties will include: Identifying purchasing needs and developing a category strategy to provide focus in direction, opportunities and challenges to ensure the company remain competitive Negotiating all supplier product, service, quality, pricing and payment terms including retrospective rebates Ensuring price and product changes are in line with company policy Working with the Procurement Manager with regards to benchmarks and tenders Monitoring sales, volumes and service levels Managing audits to monitor quality of company products Monitoring and measuring suppliers KPIs Carrying out frequent supplier review meetings for approved and potential supply partners Sourcing new products and suppliers in the UK and overseas Reviewing market opportunities and risk analysis Working with the purchasing and sales teams to plan product ranges Working with the Head of Procurement to understand the Sustainable Procurement Strategy ensuring compliance with legalisation, regulation and target achievement within the supply chain Acting as a representative at company functions and major industry events, conferences, and trade shows What skills and experience will you need as a Category Manager? A very strong background in a similar Category Manager, Senior Buyer or Purchasing Manager role in a busy and fast paced environment. Ideally MCIPS qualified with current membership or working towards MCIPS qualification at Level 5 - 6 although someone with another CIPS qualification or possibly relevant degree such as Business Purchasing and Supply Chain Management or other Procurement related field would be considered Excellent procurement, analytical and negotiation skills at senior level including sourcing and reviewing suppliers A confident and assertive character with excellent negotiation and influencing skills Strong analytical ability and commercial acumen Professional, flexible approach to work schedule and adaptability to last minute change to meet business and market demands What is in it for you as a Category Manager?
