Project Buyer
Permanent - Up £50,000 - Havant
We are supporting our client with the growth of the Procurement department and a new team member. The project purchaser will be accountable for negotiating, creating, and maintaining supply contracts with suppliers associated with specific customer projects. They will ensure supplier performance levels for specific projects meet project requirements.
Main Responsibilities:
* Supplier Identification: Identify suitable suppliers/partners for the supply of materials and equipment for customer projects.
* Supply Performance Management: Manage and develop supply performance to meet set targets for quality, delivery time, cost, and lead time.
* Technical Specifications: Review and verify technical specifications and requirements as the basis for request for quotations in accordance with project requirements.
* Contract Negotiation: Negotiate, create, and maintain supply contracts with suppliers. Communicate results to internal project stakeholders.
* Supplier Relations: Handle supplier relations to maintain, improve, and develop performance in supplier and related processes.
* Supply Data Management: Maintain supply data to relevant systems in the defined area of responsibility.
* Supplier Audits: Participate in or execute supplier audits and follow up on the audit action plan.
* Future Demand Management: Secure supplier capacity to meet future demands.
* Supplier Performance Analysis: Gather and analyse spend and supplier performance data, as well as execute benchmarking to improve supplier performance.
* Project Participation: Participate in project reviews, input to project plans, timelines, and costs. Supply and maintain supplier metrics and supply KPIs for the projects.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Previous Buying and Sourcing experience within manufacturing

* Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in project procurement.
Technical Skills:
* Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and procedures.
* Proficiency in using procurement software and MRP planning systems.
* Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
* Ability to analyse and interpret technical specifications and project requirements.
Soft Skills:
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to challenges.
