Job Description
To assist the Asset Manager (Housing) to develop a strategic approach with regards to the repairs and maintenance of the Council’s housing stock and to ensure that all legislative requirements are met and maintained.
Requirements
To assist in the development, administration and implementation of the Council’s Capital and Revenue Planned Maintenance Programme including response repairs.
To act as the department’s representative, to protect the customers interests and to ensure achievement of good quality work in liaison with other departments, sections, consultants and contractors.
To protect the Council’s repairs and maintenance budgets by actively controlling expenditure and ensuring that all repairs ordered offer the Council value for money.
To promote positive behaviours in the workplace and promote safe working within the Housing and Property Service.
The Individual
Sound building technology knowledge and experience
House condition survey experience
Computer literacy, use of a range of databases and spreadsheets
SVQ3, HNC or recognised apprenticeship in a building or surveying discipline
Ability to manage complex situations and find appropriate solutions
Willingness to take on additional tasks
Full driving licence and use of car for work purposes
Specification production and report writing skills
Ability to monitor and negotiate with contractors and consultants
Ability to prioritise own workload
Ability to work on own initiative
Good knowledge of relevant legislation
Ability to liaise with internal and external agencies
Good communication skills verbal and written
Flexible attitude to team working
Approachable and flexible
Able to attend meetings out of office hours when required
Good standard of general health and fitness required
Ability to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding

£19.74 per hour
