Educate Group is seeking a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to work closely with a young pupil who is autistic, non-verbal, and requires personal care. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s life by offering the tailored support they need to thrive in an educational setting.
The Role:
* Providing dedicated 2:1 support to a non-verbal autistic pupil, ensuring a safe and nurturing learning environment.
* Supporting the child’s communication needs using alternative methods such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) or Makaton.
* Assisting with personal care, including toileting and hygiene needs, with sensitivity and professionalism.
* Adapting learning activities to meet the child’s individual needs and encouraging engagement.
* Working closely with the alternative provision department, and other professionals to implement tailored learning and support plans.
* Encouraging social interaction and emotional development.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children with Autism and additional needs.
* Understanding of non-verbal communication strategies (e.g., PECS, Makaton, or AAC devices).
* Experience providing personal care in an educational or care setting.
* A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
* Knowledge of safeguarding.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification).
* An enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).

Registrations required to be a Teaching Assistant:
* An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, but if you do not have one, you can apply for a new one through Educate.
* You must register with the EWC (Education Workforce Council) to work in Wales.
