JOB SUMMARY
The Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Technician/Surveyor assists the Civil Engineering Section by performing CAD-related duties and surveying sites, civil works, and structures, in addition to other activities assigned by the Engineering Manager or senior department personnel.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Produce detailed technical drawings and layouts using CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.).
2. Update and maintain CAD drawings and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
3. Conduct field surveys using GPS, total stations, and other surveying equipment to gather accurate site data.
4. Download and process field data in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
5. Prepare drawings utilizing research and information gathered in the field.
6. Perform stakeout operations to establish reference points and elevations based on CAD designs.
7. Prepare documents including topographic maps, site surveys, and related drawings.
8. Duties will primarily be office-related but will require fieldwork associated with all facets of surveying, including topographic mapping, control surveying, and layout.
9. Communicate and meet with survey requestors to define task goals and requirements.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
11. Associate degree (or higher) in Surveying/Geomatics, in addition to demonstrated experience with (CAD), or a combination of education, work experience, and CAD experience, is required.
12. Proficiency with GPS and Total Station survey equipment is preferred.
13. 3+ years of experience performing project surveys, topographic surveys, boundary surveying, and staking is preferred.
14. 2 years of experience as a CAD Technician or in a similar role is required.
15. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D 2010 or later versions is required.
16. Knowledge of surveying practices and standards for analysis and computations is preferred.
17. Knowledge of survey data processing is preferred.
18. Knowledge of surveying field methods and equipment is preferred.
19. All employees must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
20. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is required.
21. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS
22. Physical requirements may include lifting up to 35 lbs., team lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing, extended periods of sitting and standing, stooping, stretching, and bending.
23. Individuals must be able to sit and concentrate for extended periods.
