Job summary The role involves working in the surgery covering varied roles. You will be required to work along side the practice manager/data clerk/prescribing clerk and also work in reception. This will be one day a week in each role, working a total of 4 days per week. Main duties of the job The duties are dependable on each role that is being covered. It is a very busy surgery with over 6400 patients. We have 3 GP's (one male & 2 female) and various other long term staff. Restoring telephone system 2. Open mail, date stamp and distribute it to doctors /Data clerk concerned 3. Making appointments on computer. Mark patients on the computer as they arrive and send them to appropriate doctor/nurse waiting area 4. Repeat prescriptions on computer and enquire with doctor any queries regarding prescriptions (acute/repeats). Accuracy must be maintained. 5. Make appointments for new patients with HCSW and GP (if on medication). 6. Enter new patients details onto computer 7. Filing and extracting notes/letters/results etc 8. Receive requests for home visits/telephone advice ensuring they are entered on computer 9. Receive specimens from patients and put them into specimen box, specimen box by 11.30am 10. Accepting requests from patients regarding results of tests/investigations etc 11. Receive and record all telephone messages if required 12. Photocopying 13. Prepare forms or notes for B.S.C 14. Enter data onto computer, all registrations/temp patients 15. Complete contact tray daily 16. Scan letters 17. Ensure all message which are not solved, are passed on to the person concerned 18. Take results over the phone from the hospital 19. Undertake typing of referrals/letters etc 20. To arrange medical examinations/private appointments/DNA Testing 21. Receiving cash 22.
