Due to the strong growth experienced by the VAT department in recent years, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a VAT Manager to work in our VAT tax team. We are seeking an Assistant Manager or Manager to join our established team. This role will involve providing VAT support on tax advisory projects and leading on our delivery of VAT compliance services. As an Assistant Manager/Manager, you must demonstrate a depth of technical knowledge of UK VAT legislation, applying this knowledge to develop solutions to complex technical issues, together with managing a team in demanding assignments on a day-to-day basis. Main responsibilities: Note that the responsibilities may be tailored depending on if the role being considered is for Assistant Manager or Manager. Working with partners and directors to develop and grow the firm's indirect tax service offering. Advising on tax structuring and advisory projects including writing, and communicating on, high quality tax deliverables, tailored to specifics of the client. Taking responsibility for a portfolio of VAT compliance clients that are sizable in both scope and scale to ensure the delivery of an efficient and high quality service. Taking ownership of client relationships, being the key point of contact for clients and developing your relationships within the firm. Delegating work to, and managing junior team members, to include reviewing work, providing training, supporting development and undertaking regular feedback conversations. Actively managing financial operations of the team and meeting own financial targets set. Demonstrating an understanding of the full range of the firm's products, services and capabilities and seeks to participate in business development activities and contributes to sales pitches, for own team as well as the wider firm. Continuously demonstrating a sound awareness of, and adherence to, the firm's risk management processes and procedures. Skills and attributes: CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified Significant experience of working in a high performing VAT team. Strong technical knowledge of VAT and relevant legislation and Case Law. Approachable and respected member of the team who takes a proactive interest in the team's performance, development and wellbeing. Capable of working on your own initiative while taking responsibility and ownership for wider team issues.
