About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-organised and resilient individual to join the Children and Family Services Business Support Team as a Business Support Officer – Finance. As a member of Children and Family Services they will be required to ensure the development of high quality financial and administrative support and systems.
The successful candidate will take day-to-day responsibility for specific Children and Family Services budgets including budget preparation and monitoring of income and expenditure involving collection, inputting, sorting and extracting financial information, and all budgetary control across the Service. This includes the provision of financial information to support budget monitoring arrangement, estimate and strategic preparation, strategic decision making and end of year closing of accounts. This will be achieved through making appropriate use of LCC financial systems, including the use of Excel spreadsheets, and other county council software systems, ensuring that information required for auditing purposes can be collected, collated and analysed efficiently and effectively. There will be a requirement to produce and present reports as necessary to Senior staff, offering advice on C&FS policies and strategy as necessary, ensuring that local policies and practices are in line with County Council policies and procedures.
Also, the successful candidate will ensure that appropriate levels of support for staff are in place, including prioritisation and organisation of workloads, and ensuring appropriate levels of cover on a daily basis. They will line manage staff, including supervision, APR and APR review meetings as well as implementing and undertaking other line management responsibilities such as absence management. They will organise, develop and provide training for staff, in their respective areas, as deemed necessary, developing and providing guidance notes and documentation as necessary, including contributing to the staff induction process.
The role is part of the wider Business Support Service and as such an important part of this role is to provide back up to colleagues, across service areas and to assist in handling urgent work on a day to day basis.

About You
To apply for this post, you must:
8. Recognised Academic Qualifications. 'GCSE', 'A' Levels, Vocational Quals, Professional/Further Education Quals in relevant area, and training in the use of ICT applications – Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Access etc.
9. Experience of working in staff development and delivery of training.
10. Previous experience of collection and collation of data, performing calculations and writing reports.
11. Experience of working to strict timescales and meeting deadlines.
12. Proven experience of managing resources and resolving administrative problems.
13. Experience of financial administration and budgets, including monitoring, control, and experience in the use of electronic purchasing systems and in the handling and recording of cash.
14. Ability to work on own initiative and to take personal responsibility for seeing through issues, with care and concern for the accuracy of information
