Base pay range
Location: Cardiff/Newport (2 days per week office-based)
Job Type: 18 months fixed term contract, Full-Time
The Role
Our client is a Welsh success story in the financial services sector. Technology has been recognised as a key driver for the business, and we are now looking for a Head of IT to look after BAU and projects. Reporting to the COO, the Head of IT will lead the delivery of the organisation's technology portfolio, ensuring systems are innovative, secure, and aligned with organisational goals. You will oversee the management of IT operations, suppliers, and policies while building and nurturing a talented team (20) through 3 direct reports. Through your leadership, you'll ensure technology solutions support the transformation strategy, delivering value to everyone.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and motivate the IT team, ensuring strong collaboration and personal development.
2. Technical Expertise: Be a hands-on leader, guiding your team through technical challenges and offering direct support when needed. Manage a team to oversee IT infrastructure across multiple sites, ensuring reliability, scalability, and effective support for all locations.
3. Budget & Resource Management: Oversee the IT budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost control. Manage IT procurement processes, ensuring the best value for money.
4. Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring that the firm receives high-quality, cost-effective IT services.
5. Visionary IT Strategy: Develop and implement a forward-looking IT roadmap with rigid processes and KPIs aligning with business goals and preparing the company for future growth and technology advancements.
6. Digital Transformation: Lead the adoption of new technologies and work with the transformation team to improve efficiency, client service, and innovation.
7. Project Management: Lead IT projects from planning through to execution, ensuring on-time delivery and alignment with company needs.
Experience
* Proven experience in an IT Manager or Head of IT role.
* On-the-tools technical awareness and experience (in Cloud, Security, Data, and Governance).
* Integration of complex systems using APIs.
