Principal Clinical Psychologist (Band 7/8a)
Job Overview
Do you want to make a difference in the lives of young people and their families? Are you interested in changing perceptions, shaping neurodevelopmental assessment services, and promoting positive outcomes for neuro-divergent young people and their families?
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Clinical Psychologist who has a strong interest in neurodiversity within our children's Neurodevelopmental pathway. You will be required to undertake psychological assessments of children up to 18 years, as part of a wider team.
This is an exciting time to be joining this service as the Neurodevelopmental pathways in the Children’s care group have been working closely with our partner agencies to develop a more integrated and multi-agency/disciplinary service. You will be joining a dynamic and supportive group of psychologists and other professionals who are committed to working within a compassionate framework where your development and well-being will be prioritized and encouraged.
Experience of assessment and working with ASD and ADHD would be desirable though not essential; applications are welcomed from recently qualified or soon to qualify Clinical Psychologists as well as established Clinical Psychologists.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent communication skills and will provide consultation to families, schools, and other professionals and agencies when there are ASD and/or ADHD queries. There will also be a requirement to undertake assessments and to consider differential diagnoses. You will have relevant demonstrable experience of working as a clinical psychologist or trainee clinical psychologist and of specialist psychological assessment and interventions of clients across the full range of care settings, along with experience of working in multi-agency teams and with a wide variety of client groups reflecting the full range of clinical severity.
Formulation is key in the service that we provide and it is essential that you can demonstrate the ability to formulate a young person’s strengths and needs. A Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology is essential as is the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
We are strongly committed to personal and professional development; the role is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and transferable skills in a supportive team environment. There are multiple opportunities for peer support.
