This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Cellular Pathology, West Hertfordshire NHS Trust. This post is for six months with a possibility of extension for another six months.
The Department of Cellular Pathology is based at Hemel Hempstead Hospital. This post provides excellent opportunities to gain valuable experience in the following areas of histopathology: Urological pathology, Breast pathology, Gynae pathology, Gastrointestinal pathology, Dermatopathology, and Cytopathology.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will support the dissection and reporting of diagnostic Histopathology and Cytopathology specimens. Support for attending relevant courses to achieve educational goals. Clinical work will be undertaken under the supervision of Consultant Histopathologists. Specimen dissection and reporting cases under supervision will be the main role of the successful applicant.
Job responsibilities
Post requirements:
* MBBS degree
* FRCPath Part 1 Necessary and Part 2 is desirable
* English Language IELTS Examination
* UK experience in a Diagnostic Histopathology Department would be an advantage.
Person Specification
Education and qualifications:
* MBBS
* FRCPath part 1
* Full registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview
* FRCPath part 2
Knowledge:
* Broad knowledge and experience of Cellular Pathology
* Interest in Urology, Gynae, Breast, and Skin pathology
Experience:
* Experience in reporting of general and complex histopathology as well as cytopathology specimens.
* Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience of teaching at multiple levels
Skills and ability:
* Confident handling of cases under Consultant supervision
* Understanding of principles of clinical governance. Ability to demonstrate continuing personal development
* Experience of teaching at multiple levels

Salary: £49,559 to £64,288 a year plus £149 HCA per annum.
